Boys Tuxedo Shirts
A true formal tuxedo ensemble cannot be completed without a tuxedo shirt, of course. Tuxedo shirts (apart from the tuxedo itself) is the main attraction of the entire look.
If you think about it, whether big or small, young or old, if you’re dancing the night away the tuxedo jacket and accessories will be taken off throughout the night and the tuxedo shirt will be left standing.
When choosing a tuxedo shirt, it might seem like they are all relatively similar (apart from color). But, believe it or not, there are subtle differences in tuxedo shirts for all ages and sizes and understanding the difference and which would look best with the rest of the tuxedo outfit could make or break the overall style.
On our “tuxedo shirts” section, the ability to choose from a selection of different colors (such as, white, ivory or black), materials like cotton-blend or microfiber, and even a range of prices are available within the “Shop by” box to the left of the screen. Customers also have the ability to select a pleated vs. non-pleated tuxedo shirt and a laydown or wingtip collared shirt.
What is the difference between a wingtip and laydown collar (you whisper to yourself)? A wingtip collar is a more traditional and formal-appropriate tuxedo shirt. Primarily seen at black-tie events, weddings, galas, or any major formal function. The laydown collar is just a little less formal and becoming more popular. The laydown shirt collar is appropriate for formal events, dinners, parties, etc. It is also acceptable to be worn with dress pants, a tuxedo (sans tuxedo tails), and suits.
Another difference we mentioned is a pleated vs. non-pleated tuxedo shirt. Again, the pleats are more appropriate for black-tie formal occasions to compliment any tuxedo look; whereas the non-pleated tuxedo shirts are a little more versatile in being able to style and wear them for other occasions with other pieces of clothing.
Sizing for anyone is a difficult venture, but especially when it comes to formal wear. Selecting the correct size often feels like walking a fine line between comfort and saying to yourself, “eh, this will do.”
Well, because we like to make this shopping experience more delightful than dreadful, we have a sizing guide that is available on the sizing and fit page to help assess which size tuxedo shirt best suits any tuxedo wearing young man.
On this page, the shopper can learn fun facts, such as: shirt sizes are primarily determined by “neck size” and “sleeve length;” as well as some tips on how to best find the correct measurements of those specific body parts from the comfort of your own home. Once the measurements (or guestimate of the measurements) is found, the easy to read size chart will guide you on the boys extra-small to large sizes and their corresponding numerical measurements for the age range, neck, chest, sleeve and body length sizes.
Should anyone still be confused or unsure of which tuxedo shirt to go with, our customer service reps are available to chat and can be contacted by clicking the “chat now” box in the bottom right-hand corner at any time of your shopping experience.
